This is the core philosophy behind every frame I take. With a style that mixes genres (call it filmy photojournalism) and a presence that invites vulnerability, I encourage couples to embrace the unconventional, unrestricted by expectation or trend.

The goal is not a perfectly arranged performance
(although impromptu singing and dancing are always welcome), but rather a shared experience with the people you love in the moments you’ll only get to live once. After all, these are the moments you’ll want to remember most.
A word to the wise? Hug your people tight. Smile big and wide. Cry the tears — the happy and the wistful. Conquer the dance floor, and boldly so. Take the loud toasts and rambling speeches to heart. Embrace your favorite traditions — or hey, start your own.

And let each photograph thereafter be a reminder of the time you loved and lived and truly felt that rare and splendid experience of having all of your people together in one place.

“There is one thing the photograph must contain, the humanity of the moment. This kind of photography is realism. But realism is not enough - there has to be vision, and the two together can make a good photograph.”

More Words of Wisdom

With a bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology, Haley has always been one to study people. The interactions with you and the world around, the way you connect to others, how you can’t help but be completely and utterly human.

For Haley, there was an undeniable form of art in these observations. However, it would be years until she captured it through photography. But just four frames into her first family photoshoot, it was as if something snapped into place for her. Since then, her work has explored the human condition — what it is to feel, to love and be loved — in all of its beautiful imperfections. Haley has documented these narratives across the country from her misty hometown in Oregon to the cityscape of New York City, and her work has been featured in publications like People Magazine and US Weekly.

“I wanted candid, in the moment, memories being captured as they were made and she nailed it! It’s been 3 days of me looking through our wedding photos and I’m still getting emotional.”
